Differences between BMW E & F series EDC17CP45 read/write:

When you would like to read/write EDC17CP45 from E-series you only need to drill a hole in back of Chip Tuning Tools to get into bootpin. But for F-series, No need open the ECU and drill one hole for bootpin or more to get into GPT.

FgTech vs Ktag read/write EDC17CP45:
with FG Tech genuine you can use only 1boot pin, but before you will need to unlock it – work by OBD.
But read/write with 1boot pin.
For K-tag, you will need to solder 3 wires

open it like every ecu.
the 5 screws need make of.afte this make pcb little hot and try to lift it from two sided on corner this tools needed.beding on corner.with little press,you can hear when the heat paste let the pcb .don’t need much press only little an you will see nothing damaged

Here is were to drill holes in back side of this ecu from bmw f10 530d 245hp the 2010 year EDC17CP45. Need 3pins to have communication with this ecu. Read it with Ktag. This is the safest way for communication.

1. If you want to update your old Ktag(V1.89, 2.06) to Newest Version V2.11
2.You need to send the main unit of your old ktag back to us, the update cost is 370.00USD
3. As the hardware of Ktag V2.11(V6.070) and old Ktag(firmware v5.001) is not same, we are unable to update old ktag to newest version directly.
4. Our factory will recycle your old V5.001 firmware K-TAG programmer and change a brand new K-TAG ECU programmer with hardware V6.070 and software V2.11

Why do I buy KESS V2 and Ktag programmer together? (user review)

KESS V2 is a ECU programming tool that is perfect for OBD use, while KTag is perfect for Jtag, BDM and all the Boot application (tricore and ST10).

With KESS V2 you programming directly through the OBD port of the vehicle, while with Ktag you need to take apart the ECU and  open it, after you can make the read/write operation.

Many ECU has the advantage that can be read and write from OBD port (so KESS V2 is perfect), but there are lot ECU that need to disassemble from the car and open and this is the case for all the ECU that need to be programmed with Jtag, BDM and Boot protocols, so KTAG is needed.”

A: There is no benefit to use higher version as v2.08. Fore sure newer ksuite version will support more cars, but for this you need also new fw!

A: No. KTM100 FW: 7.003 support Mercedes-Benz W222 & BMW F chassis petrol, which K-TAG ECU Programming cannot do that.

Why Ktag / Kess checksums error and how to prevent it happens

Some users feedback they have a same problem with KTAG Programming Tool Master and/or Kess v2 Master checksums error eg. the units will not calculate checksums when loading files. And this error happens on both Chinese clone Ktag/Kess and EU clone ones.
Then why Ktag / Kess checksums error and how to prevent it happens?
According to this ECU, you must do a full read and then straight after that you must do a full write. After you’ve done that, the ECU is open for you to load your tunes based on partial reads and writes. The reason for the full read and full write is that it takes off the tuning protection on the ECU.
The process is different for other ECUs I’d imagine.
