This post comes with the guide to use CG Pro 9S12 and CGDI Prog BMW to reset instrument & BDC modules mileage for 2014 BMW X5.
This is BMW X5 2014
The current mileage is 101024km
Preparation:
Remove the car instrument and the automotive BDC module
Dismantle the instrument module
The chip is 160D
Main step:
Step 1: Reset instrument module mileage by CG PRO 9S12
Step 2: Reset BDC module mileage by CGDI BMW
In detail…
Step 1: Reset instrument module mileage by CG PRO 9S12
Connect CG PRO 9S12 programmer with CG PRO 35160WT adapter
Enter CG Pro software
Select type: Dashboard-> Brand: BMW -> Model: 160DQ (mode 1)
Click Read
Click OK to save EEPROM data
Press the mileage button
Input a new mileage you want to adjust and click “OK”
Write mileage is completed
Click Read to read data again
Save the new data
Save the new mileage data successfully
Step 2: Reset BDC module mileage by CGDI BMW
There are 95256 chips on the BDC
Clean them before be used during the operation
Connect the BDC module to the platform follow the instructions provided
Connect 8 foot chip free clip adapter with CGDI prog BMW
Enter CGDI software
Select BMW Key Match (OBD)-> FEM/BDC Key Match
A message appears on the screen “The current FEM/BDC needs to update the ECU program before performing key matching. Please ensure that the car battery has enough power, please keep the equipment cable connection during the programming. Whether to continue?”
Click “Yes”
Follow the FEM/BDC Key Match prompt to select the way to read EEPROM
Method 1: Use programmer to read FEM/BDC 8-pin chip data: please remove 95128/95256 chip from FEM/BDC, use programmer to read data and save, then click “Next” button
Method 2: Use EEPROM adapter to read FEM/BDC 8-pin chip data: please remove the FEM/BDC from the car (must cut off power), and properly connect the adapter’s chip clip to the 95128/95256 chip of the FEM/BDC, then click the “Next” button
Here select the second method
Read data successfully
Create a new folder to save the BDC/EEPROM data
Write data successfully
Follow the prompt to install the FEM/BDC into the car (the chip holder must be removed from the chip) and click the “Next” button
Programming ECU…
Select the second method to write EEPROM and click “Next”
If it failed to write EEPROM, check the connection between the adapter and the clip, ensure that the device is connected to the 12V power supply, then click “Retry”
Write data successfully
Then follow the prompt to remove the chip clip from the chip
Setting code…
Code setting succeed
Click Mileage Reset
When it prompts “The car mileage will be restored to 0”
CGDI BMW key programmer reset BDC module mileage successfully
