2017 Launch X431 Pro Mini review – newer & better than many tools

I’m a Launch user living Canada, and couldn’t be happier with this Launch X431 Pro Mini Bluetooth. I would like to write an objective review on X431 Pro Mini here. I really highly recommend it for following reasons.

X431 Pro Mini unit is small, the smallest of the Auto Scanner Tools that I’ve dealt with. This tool is the newest Launch product out on the market for 2017. I took a big risk in buying X431 Pro Mini because it wasn’t released in North America. But good thing it worked out because the updates for the software are newer than the ones in North America. Example: on the X431 pro Mini Porsche firmware V21.91. In current software from launchtechusa.com/ North America it’s V21.81.

It’s all about the software, doesn’t matter where these machines are made, the software has to be current.

Previously I had the older Launch GDS which gave me issues with Acura, Honda, Toyota and Nissan. Thank god the issues have been fixed with this new X431 pro Mini unit. By far, the BMW, Benz and VW software is the best you can find on the market. I used and bought previous Snapon- Verus, Autel and PIWIS, Vagcom. This X431 pro Mini tool by far is one of best well-rounded ones. The customer service from www.cnautotool.com is very nice and helpful too, they are prompt at answering any questions. The shipping also came on time! Faster than I expected.

No! Renault CAN CLiP v166 software is only offered online, but professionals haven’t tested them yet. So, probably, you are taking risks with CLIP above.

You will need the Tech 2 and Saab 32MB card (specify when buying clone) listed in the link above. Those two alone should be able to read DTCs, I believe. To get security access and make changes via Tech 2 at CnAutotool, you will need an older Windows?XP laptop with built in serial port – a newer computer running a virtual machine program & serial to usb adapter should also work – and the Tis2000/GlobalTIS software.

Personal opinion: The Tech 2 in the link you posted is priced a bit higher than most ($349 vs $319). You might want to read back a few pages in this thread for some links to other sellers with better pricing and more sales.
My GM Tech2 scanner hq clone is paid for $319. It is with with a 32MB card and TIS2000 software CD.

When you would like to read/write EDC17CP45 from E-series you only need to drill a hole in back of Chip Tuning Tools to get into bootpin. But for F-series, No need open the ECU and drill one hole for bootpin or more to get into GPT.

FgTech vs Ktag read/write EDC17CP45:
with FG Tech genuine you can use only 1boot pin, but before you will need to unlock it – work by OBD.
But read/write with 1boot pin.
For K-tag, you will need to solder 3 wires

the 5 screws need make of.afte this make pcb little hot and try to lift it from two sided on corner this tools needed.beding on corner.with little press,you can hear when the heat paste let the pcb .don’t need much press only little an you will see nothing damaged

Here is were to drill holes in back side of this ecu from bmw f10 530d 245hp the 2010 year EDC17CP45. Need 3pins to have communication with this ecu. Read it with Ktag. This is the safest way for communication.
