I hope TIS2000 can give more useful info regarding troubleshooting on C5 than a coloring book .
The Tech2 can record snapshots ( two I think) of a number of parameters. These snapshot recordings can be started by a DTC or manual started pressing the Tech 2 keypad .
These snapshots can later be uploaded from Tech 2 to the PC with TIS2000 and replayed as shown on the sceendump below.

Bleeding ABS on Corvette with GM Tech II by following the next procedure.

Perform a manual or pressure bleeding procedure. If the desired brake pedal height results are not achieved, perform the automated bleed procedure below.
The procedure cycles the system valves and runs the pump in order to purge the air from the secondary circuits normally closed off during normal base brake operation and bleeding. The automated bleed procedure is recommended when air ingestion is suspected in the secondary circuits, or when the BPMV has been replaced.

Automated Bleed Procedure
Notice: The Auto Bleed Procedure may be terminated at any time during the process by pressing the EXIT button. No further Scan Tool prompts pertaining to the Auto Bleed procedure will be given. After exiting the bleed procedure, relieve bleed pressure and disconnect bleed equipment per manufacturer’s instructions. Failure to properly relieve pressure may result in spilled brake fluid causing damage to components and painted surfaces.
1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support.
2. Remove all four tire and wheel assemblies.
3. Inspect the brake system for leaks and visual damage. Refer to Brake Fluid Loss or Symptoms – Hydraulic Brakes. Repair or replace as needed.
4. Inspect the battery state of charge.
5. Install a scan tool.
6. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
7. With the scan tool, establish communications with the Professional Diagnostic Tool. Select Special Functions. Select Automated Bleed from the Special Functions menu.
8. Bleed the base brake system.
9. Follow the scan tool directions until the desired brake pedal height is achieved.
10. If the bleed procedure is aborted, a malfunction exists. Perform the following steps before resuming the bleed

procedure:
– If a DTC is detected, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code
(DTC) List and diagnose the appropriate DTC.
– If the brake pedal feels spongy, perform the conventional brake bleed procedure again.
11. When the desired pedal height is achieved, press the brake pedal in order to inspect for firmness.
12. Remove the scan tool.
13. Install the tire and wheel assemblies.
14. Inspect the brake fluid level.
15. Road test the vehicle while inspecting that the pedal remains high and firm.

2000 S430 Problem description – Fuel Guage inaccuracy:
I had to change my “Rear Sam?” because of some water damage I had gotten under the back seat, on the passenger side. This had made my fuel guage not work, or any power go to the rear. I had changed the SAM, and now everything works, even the fuel guage. But then I kept on driving, the guage needle would move, but it is innacurate. It would tell me there is like 18G in the car for about 250miles of driving. And when I fill up the car…The needle will stay all the way down, as if it was not working, then after about 50 miles of driving, it will shoot all the way up.

Someone had said it is my Sending Unit. Another had told me it was a fuel relay?

Has anybody had this problem, or know about it and can tell me what I can do to fix this…

My fuel guage used to work properly until the rear SAM was damaged, and when I replaced the SAM, The rear tail lights started working again…Because there was no power going to the rear at all because of the damaged comp. Now that I replaced it, I have all power back in the rear, and there is power for the fuel guage…But it just doesn’t read right….And when I fill it up, it wont read at all until about 40 to 50 Miles into my drive.

Solution:
It appears that the SAM MAY need to be coded and it is behaving “strangely” because the unit has insufficient or incorrectparameters to send the correct signal to the fuel gauge.
Coded means “programmed” to match your vehicle.

The SAM you have purchased is a generic part and MAY fit to many models and markets of MB and needs to be “set up”.
This requires connecting to a MB STAR diagnostic tool (MB proprietary) or similartype of diagnostics computer to carry out the procedure.

Connecting to such a computer will also enable On Board Diagnostic codes to be read which should assist in pointing towards the problem by identifying that parameters are missing or implausible for the Vehicle Identity Number VIN etc.

Who is good supplier of STAR diagnostic tool?
I have STAR and it’s worth every penny… just takes some time to get to learn how it works. Dont get one with virtual image software, get an actual Dell D630 with original HD and SD Connect 4.
Compared with the virtual image software, it runs faster, Internal is so much nicer because now I just have the multiplexer and laptop to carry to the car, nothing to unplug or fall off, if you use it quite a bit then go External hard drive.

Are these more or less recent USB to OBD2 devices pretty much the same? There are many out there, but is it correct that if the device connects to the port and can read and write, then it is all a matter of software after that point? Are the devices tied to proprietary software, or is the OBD2 port generic enough that any software will work with any (recent) interface?

Answer:

If OBD was really a standard, there would be 4 pins on the connector. Instead there are 16 pins. There’s the old GM standard pins, the Ford pins, the European pins, the current Toyota pins, the Leaf pins…..

The connector that plugs into the OBD port has a microcomputer in it that translates some subset of the OBD possibilities into a serial protocol. That serial protocol can be delivered to a PC via USB or Bluetooth.

There are currently two major device standards in use, ELM and J2534. The cheap devices all use ELM, and most are imitations of the devices made by ELM Electronics.

ELM is ok for slow speed queries of the CAN bus on current Toyotas. There are a few premium ELM protocol devices that are fast enough to handle the full data rate on a Prius. The ELM protocol does not support the K-Line interface on the Prius, which means that TPMS, Gen2 keyfob, and Gen2 option setup cannot be supported by any software on the PC.

J2534 is required for use with Techstream. Which means the Denso interface that dealers use, the Mongoose, the Tactrix, or one of the Mongoose imitations like the Mangoose (I kid you not…). The Tactrix has really only been debugged with Subaru/Mitsubishi vehicles. I don’t have any experience with the Mongoose clones.

Note: the MVCI only are compatible with Windows XP, so you’ll want to confirm first. I purchased a Netbook to use with them, as it is smaller than my laptop and easier to maneuver in a car.

Part 1: ACDP for Volvo S60 (2010 – 2018) full-keyless operation help:
The CEM is located under the co-pilot airbag.

KVM is located above the right rear wheel of the trunk.
1.”Read CEM passord” help:
The CEM password can be read in either ICP or OBD. The OBD method takes up to 8 hours. It is recommended to use the ICP method.
2. “Read KVM Password” help:
Prepare ACDP, OBP+ICP adapter, KVM interface board and KVM module.

Install the interface board to the corresponding position of the KVM module and align it with the test point.

Clamp PCB locks.

Link ACDP and KVM module.

3. “Add keyless” and “Delete keyless” help:
Please connect ACDP to the car OBD interface

4. “Unlock key” help:

Part 2: ACDP for Volvo S60 (2010 – 2018) semi-keyless operation help:

1.Prepare ACDP, OBP+ICP adapter, CEM interface board and CEM module.

2.Clamp two PCB locks.

3.Link ACDP and CEM module.

Help on Unlock key:

Please put the Volvo key into the BAV adapter and unlock it with the CEM password file loaded when the key is matched.
